Arashi surpassed AKB48 in Billboard Japan's ranking for the first half of 2014


Billboard Japan has announced its rankings for the first half of 2014 (25 Nov. 2013 - 1 Jun. 2014). For the first time in 4 years, Arashi was able to take the top spot after suppressing AKB48, who had ranked first consecutively for the last 3 years.

The rankings for the first half of 2014 has been announced in 11 categories, such as hot 100, top albums, top animation and hot overseas. Billboard Japan Hot 100 ranks popular singles based on radio airplay measured by Plantech and sales data compiled by SoundScanJapan. For the special 2014' first half ranking, Billboard listed the top 20 in each categories.

Arashi's "Bittersweet" and "Daremo Shiranai" also ranked in the chart. Other Johnny's, who were able to take a spot in the chart are Kanjani8, who also ranked 3of their singles, SMAP and the new group, Johnnys' WEST. For the best albums chart, Kis-My-Ft2, KAT-TUN, Kinki Kids and Sexy Zone were able to rank their album.
