Kimura Takuya’s “HERO” to Return this Summer

SMAP's Kimura Takuya is going to return on a Getsu9-Drama (airing Mondays at 21:00) with a second season of his previous drama "HERO". This will mark his 10th Getsu9-Drama, the last being "PRICELESS ~Aruwakeneedaro, nnamon!~" in 2012.

"HERO" was first aired by Fuji TV as a Getsu9-Drama in 2001. It follows the story of Kohei Kuryu, a former juvenile delinquent who droped out of junior high, went on to earn a high school equivalency diploma and eventually became a prosecutor. He is not the typical prosecutor, which is quickly seen through the clothes that he wears, but he possesses quick instincts and a kind of cleverness that only someone raised on the streets could have. The 11 episodes drama became a hit with 34.03% viewership rating.

In July 2006 it returned as a drama special. This episode was able to get 30.9% viewership rating. September the following year, a movie was released with the same title. The filming for this movie took place in Japan and Korea with Korean Actor Lee Byung Hun taking part in it.

The second season of "HERO" will be set 7 years after the moviewhere Kuryu will make his return to Tokyo District Prosecutor Office. Kitagawa Keiko has been chosen as the new heroine for this second season. Some cast members like Kohinata Fumiyo, Yashima Norito, Kadono Takuzo, and Tanaka Yoji, who appeared in the previous season, will also return to the drama along with Kimura. The cast will be extended by Sugimoto Tetta, Hamada Gaku, Yoshida Yo, and Matsushige Yutaka.

“It’s been a while, I’ve come back to the Josai branch after a long time. Thank you for your consideration,” Kimura commented.
